Bear Flag is an early stage team at John Deere, acquired in August 2021, with a growing portfolio of projects in the autonomy space and is looking for a Perception Data Engineer to join our growing team.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $140,000 and $180,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.

Maintain the data catalog and create data sets to meet modeling requirements

Work with perception engineers to Identify gaps in our data sets

Manage, monitor, and track usage of data sets used for modeling

Prepare data set utilization and data set tracing reports

Work alongside field engineers to collect data required to meet use cases related to perception and vehicle navigation and localization

Set up data observability and data quality frameworks that allow engineering teams to use no-code/low-code configurations and get metrics on data freshness, schema changes, data volume distribution anomalies

Monitor and contribute to data pipeline infrastructure for various workloads, including data collection, data ingestion, data cataloging and labeling

Assist with implementing best practice security, compliance, and reporting requirements around data set utilization and data integrity

Define the non-functional requirements for engineering teams around security, logging, monitoring, alerting, configuration, testing, setting up the systems and working with the internal teams in their implementation of apps and services

Assist with the management of model CI/CD pipeline

Bachelor's Degree with at least 4-6 years of Data Science experience and/or Data Engineering

Experience working with AWS Data and ML compute and processing stack (AWS Batch, Glue, Lambdas, RDS) and networking

Experience managing projects independently

Experience curating large data sets

Experience working with lidar and image data sets

Scripting languages and systems (Python strongly preferred, Go, Puppet, Ansible)

Linux internals, networking and distributed computing experience is a must
