At Better Origin, our mission is to fix the broken food chain. We are inspired by nature and how it deals with waste, with nutrients always flowing in a circular system.

That is exactly what happens inside the Better Origin X1 container, where food waste is fed to insects, which then become a carbon negative source of protein for animal feed. This enables us to not only reduce food waste and emissions, but also support a local-first supply chain.

Requirements

Your Role

As a Driver / Field Production Operator, you will be focused on the operations and performance of our remote insect farming modules. In this role you will be driving, from our Cambridge site to visit our units across the UK, re-stocking and ensuring they are performing at their absolute best.

Role specifics:

• Delivering consumables and equipment to our remote Better Origin farming modules across the UK
• Performing inspections of the modules, including yield (sieving / weighing) to check unit performance
• Working alongside the broader breeding team in maintaining high production performance at our central facility
• Documenting processes and identifying areas for continuous improvement
• Supporting with hygiene and cleaning at our X1 Remote insect farms

What we're looking for:

• Available to commit to two 12hr days per week (Tuesdays and Fridays)
• Clean UK driving licence
• Be of sound physical health and capable of lifting 20kg trays / buckets
• Not put-off by getting your hands dirty, or working in an environment with bad odours
• A good team player, also comfortable working unsupervised
