Job Description
Mori is seeking a part-time (approximately 15 hour/week) microbiology intern to join our Fresh Foods R&D team for a 3 month term. Interns who join us will have the following responsibilities (which are subject to change):
- Carry out scientific literature review, to enable design, execution, and analyses of experiments
- Support research to test efficacy of novel edible coatings for perishable food items
- Collaborate with scientists to propose, design and develop new or improved microbiology methods
- Support optimization of shelf-life testing and advance our Mori’s fundamental understanding of mode of action against food spoilage microbes
- Conduct routine microbiology lab tasks related to operations and management, including routine microbial QC and maintaining consumables
Compensation
- Salary commensurate with experience, $30-40 per hour
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with demonstrated lab experience in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Microbiology ect. and/or enrollment in a graduate program in a related field
- Strong statistical background with experience using JMP, R or similar software
- Experience working on interdisciplinary teams with strong project and people management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
