CFS is seeking a highly motivated NDT level I technician to assist level II technicians in inspection and test activities for the SPARC project. You will help perform daily inspections on weldments and soldered structures to support manufacturing operations. This individual will be primarily responsible for monitoring a safety boundary during routine x-ray operations, and for helping set up and break down x-ray equipment as required. This team member will:

  • Assist NDT level II staff in carrying out in-process inspection of weldments and soldered structures using radiography (x-ray,) visual, penetrant and other non-destructive techniques
  • Assist NDT level II staff in preparing and document detailed inspection reports and nonconformances as needed
  • Assist NDT level II staff in equipment setup and maintenance
  • Set up and maintain a safety boundary during x-ray operations on the factory floor
  • Interface with technicians on issues related to quality and help them in understanding and interpreting quality specifications and technical drawings
  • Work around x-ray radiation sources, wearing proper PPE and monitoring equipment
  • The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced factory environment
  • General computer knowledge (MS Office products, email, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the changing needs of a business
  • A safety mindset and a willingness to speak up when needed to maintain a safe operation
  • Additional preferred experience and/or qualifications:

  • Dimensional inspection experience
  • 40 radiation safety training
  • Radiation safety card valid in MA
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • NDT certifications (VT, PT, UT, etc.)
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Perform activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
