Position Summary
The Module Process Engineering Intern will support Antora’s Module Process Engineering team with a focus on process stability and continuous improvement. This role involves developing and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, conducting root cause analyses on manufacturing deviations, and providing hands-on technical support. The intern will contribute directly to scaling Antora’s TPV (thermophotovoltaic) technology and advancing the company’s mission to deliver affordable, zero-emissions industrial energy.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Process Monitoring & SPC ImplementationDevelop, implement, and maintain SPC tools to monitor process performance
- Identify process variation and detect defects early in the assembly line
- Root Cause Analysis & Continuous ImprovementPerform deep-dive analyses on process deviations to identify failure modes
- Apply methodologies such as 5 Whys or Fishbone diagrams to determine root causes
- Drive corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) to improve process reliability
- Operational & Engineering SupportProvide hands-on support for troubleshooting, experimentation, and process optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing efficiency
- Support scale-up efforts for TPV module manufacturing
- Data Analysis & ReportingAnalyze process data to uncover trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement
- Build dashboards or tools to track key performance metrics
Key Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis techniques
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams)
- Foundational knowledge of process engineering and manufacturing systems
- Proficiency in Python or similar programming language for data analysis
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Additional Qualifications Desired
- Prior internship or project experience in manufacturing, production, or process engineering
- Experience working with control charts, histograms, or other statistical tools
- Familiarity with design of experiments (DOE) or process optimization techniques
- Experience in hardware, energy systems, or semiconductor-related processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Hands-on experience with lab or production equipment
Work Location: Onsite - San Jose, CA
Internship Start Dates:
Group 1: June 1st - August 7th
Group 2: June 15th - August 21st
Hourly Range: $35 USD - $45 USD
Please note that the hourly range listed for this position reflects Antora Energy's estimated pay rate. The actual rate offered will be determined based on a candidate's experience, year in school, and degree, as they relate to the position's requirements.
