Your role and team: 

You will report directly to the Production Team Leader and work alongside our aircraft systems production team. The mechanical assembly teams for our Propulsion and Final Aircraft Assembly systems take care of all mechanical assembly processes, including the installation of mechanical components and sub assembly systems to the aircraft.

We are looking for experienced and self-motivated technicians. A high attention to detail and a strong focus on safety are very important attributes for this role. You will be hands on executing the mechanical assemblies of Lilium’s revolutionary aircraft. This will include prototyping, testing and production ramp up. You will also partner with our manufacturing engineering team, providing feedback for design improvements to the product.

Your Day to Day:  

  • Take responsibility for safety, delivery and quality during all stages of the assembly processes
  • Work in a self-directed team of aircraft technicians and electricians
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic and measuring equipment
  • Take responsibility for maintaining an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment
  • Implement and sustain manufacturing data of the production system
  • Follow drawings/work instructions and project plans
  • Assembly of high-performance assemblies using various types of plastic, ceramic, composite, metallic products to agreed specifications and standards
  • Identify and provide feedback of errors to the corresponding teams, cooperation for root cause analysis
  • Assembly/modification of tooling and fixtures
  • Assist technology acquisition and new factory/equipment installation & commissioning
  • Work cross functionally with related departments
    • work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve processes, equipment & tooling, and repair solutions
    • improve manufacturing standards and process requirements
    • support digital improvements and innovations while working with manufacturing execution systems

Your Profile:  

  • Educational background as an aircraft technician and/or within aviation component manufacturing required
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in mechanical manufacturing preferably in aerospace industry (required for Final Assembly mechanical technicians)
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Previous experience working in prototyping preferred
  • Experience with operating and maintaining a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, test equipment
  • Capable of completing complex mechanical assemblies with a high level of dexterity, including but not limited to drilling, fastening, application of sealants / glues, cable routings, etc
  • Installing fasteners such as HI-LOKs, HI-LITES, and other aerospace grade hardware
  • Quality Inspection experience would be highly regarded
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal English instructions. German language is a bonus.
