As a Mechanical Engineer for the SPARC PRTS (Port Plugs), you will be responsible for support of the vendor selection, through raw material sourcing and fabrication of the port plug components, which includes machining and welding and use of fasteners, for the preparation for pre-assembly and guidance during the installation in SPARC.

This team member will:
Demonstrate cases of taking a product from design to manufacturing and working with vendors to fabricate the parts to the specifications and manage deviationsSupport procurement in the preparation and execution of the manufacturing contractsTravel to vendors to review the progress and resolve any issuesDevelop technical specifications, assembly procedures and documentation necessary to fabricate and install the partsWork closely with design team and maintain regular contact with the selected vendors to provide them with necessary technical supportEnforce observance of the required quality standards and securing documentation and processing of the NCR’sBe instrumental in understanding best practices and effective support of the manufacturing process Offer insight and creative ideas about designed features and machining processes that can meet the basic requirement, with quality, cost of manufacturing and lead time in mindThe ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or above5+ years' of engineering design and analysis experienceExperience with measurement systems, such as CMM, laser tracker, metrology and scanning tools for dimensional verification of machined components, as well as spatial measurements Experience with machine shop environment and with development of assembly instructionsFamiliarity with CAM process/software and G code is highly desirable. Any exposure to welding processes is a bonusAdvanced cad skills in NX, both in modeling and drawings; understanding of GD&T and spatial tolerancing on digital measurement systems Able to communicate effectively in a team and a fast-paced environment, making well informed decisionsAdditional experience and/or qualifications:
