Role Summary:

Manages the team responsible for daily material support operations, including developing and optimizing plant layouts and material flow plans. This position is onsite at our manufacturing facility in Normal, IL and reports to the Senior Manager of Process Engineering on the Production Control Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages daily material flow operations of the production control support staff for the manufacturing plant and production schedule
  • Leads the responsibility for engineering and implementing the Production Control Plan for Every Part including all container and packaging specifications, storage and staging layouts, processing areas and replenishment processes
  • Understanding and experience in implementing lean project initiatives
  • Analyzes equipment procurement for the material handling team
  • Interfaces with the LLP (Lead Logistics Provider)
  • Experience in leading and organizing teams with a proven track record of performance
  • Supervises pilot and lead unit material setup and system establishment
  • Establishes the flow for service part requests and schedules
  • Calculates and participates to the department Annual Business Plan
  • Participates implementation of RIOS (Rivian Integrated Operating System)
  • Collaborates the production control and production teams
  • Leads cross functional plan for training and attendance coverage
  • Engineers new business strategies and material flow analysis
  • Develops, improves, and maintains standard work
  • Able to work on any shift for a specific time period
  • Exhibit “Rivian Compass” in everything you do
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or program management or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of experience of direct management experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in high volume manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
  • Experience with Materials Requirement Planning “MRP” software such as SAP preferred
  • Intermediate or above knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook programs
  • Strong leadership skills, experience in organizing and managing multiple teams
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Ability to set tasks and responsibilities while supporting, encouraging, and developing team
  • Experience reporting out, creating, and managing KPIs in a production environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and stay within budget
  • Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude
  • Highly organized, with good time management skills and acute attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • In the performance of the duties of this job the employee is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle, communicate using telephone and e-mail.
