Maintenance Assistant full-time, Hamilton, ON

 

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Maintenance Department and care of our hydroponic farms both at our plant hub and our customer locations across Hamilton and Toronto. You’ll follow clearly defined processes and quality standards to ensure our farms and the hub are clean, sanitized and in good condition. 

You are well-organized and reliable, able to understand and follow clear processes and instructions, and like being hands-on with your day-to-day work.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks in our farming and supporting systems as assigned by the Lead Maintenance Technician.
  • Use the Maintenance interface such as the Maintenance App and system screen interface to perform minor Preventive Maintenance tasks and cleaning procedures
  • Observe the systems around the hub and report any abnormal behavior to the Maintenance Team using the Infarm ticketing system
  • Use our Work Order software system to receive, complete and request work orders assigned
  • Perform routine and odd jobs around and inside the hub (building equipment, wall mounting boards, piping, drainage, lightning etc.) and minor heating and ventilation systems maintenance cleaning
  • Handle in-hub fertilizer, follow procedures to keep our fertilizer stocks in good conditions
  • Refill fertilizers within our farming system (bottles, canisters and/or drums)  
  • Prep materials for upcoming jobs 
  • Clean and organize Chemical/Maintenance storage area
  • Maintain Maintenance tools and report needs of consumables to the Lead Maintenance Technician
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Prepare Activity reports upon request

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools as well as cleaning equipment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50lbs
