Location - Berkeley, CA

 Research and development at Pivot Bio is constantly investigating ways to improve our current product performance while expanding our product line to include different crops around the world. Managing this growing research data and its complex workflows requires both custom-built and vendor software. The LIMS Developer will work with our internal software development team and various laboratory R&D teams to help support the development of these tools to enable new product development at a larger scale. 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Developing and configuring data templates, sample management workflows, and their associated database models for new or existing assays in Benchling 
  • Collaborate with laboratory and bioinformatics scientists to help build software workflows for managing sequencing and other biological data 
  • Build relationships with R&D staff to facilitate iterative development of tools and constructive feedback loops that improve the data collection process 
  • Help scope and perform complex data migrations from legacy applications 
  • May involve occasional travel to other laboratory locations in the United States 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • 2+ years experience configuring and developing ELN/LIMS systems such as Benchling 
  • 2+ years experience using Python to post or retrieve data from REST APIs and writing SQL queries against relational databases  
  • Familiarity with agile software project management practices 
  • Familiarity with software tools for version control and software testing practices 
  • Strong attention to detail and orientation to process 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to a range of stakeholders with different data needs
