What You Will Be Doing:
Helion Energy is looking for a Project Leader to explore the upper limits of flux trapping within the field reverse configuration (FRC) formation section of its fusion generators. This individual will lead a small group of scientists, engineers, and technicians to design, build, and test the world’s largest FRC in terms of trapped flux and geometric scale.
You Will:
- Grow and mentor a team of experimental scientists to accelerate Helion’s understanding and implementation of field reverse configuration plasmas in order to maximize fusion energy
- Be responsible for understanding FRC theory and leading a team of experimentalists in hardware development, diagnostic design, data collection, and analysis of large scale FRCs
- Partner with the research organization to identify and prioritize the highest-value areas of plasma physics research
- Prepare research reports and documentation and discuss them with Helion’s technical staff
About You:
- D. in engineering or physics, or related field of study
- Technical management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and product-oriented approach to research
- Ability to understand and manage interface issues that bridge complex engineering and physics topics
Bonus Points:
- Attention to detail with an ability to pivot between topics multiple times per day
- In-depth understanding of the physics of experimental FRCs
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
- Ability to apply both first-principles thinking and analytical rigor to challenging problems
Per Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act the range for this position is $115k-$170k. Actual salary is based on education, experience, and other qualifying skill sets.
