Public benefit company on a mission to fight climate change by genetically enhancing CO2 capture and storage in trees.
Living Carbon is a public benefit corporation with a mission to responsibly rebalance the planet’s carbon cycle using the inherent power of plants. We believe that gigaton scale CO2 drawdown will only happen if solutions are both beneficial to the environment and profitable to landowners. We’ve developed photosynthesis-enhanced seedlings that capture carbon faster on underperforming and degraded land. In addition to improving carbon capture rates we are also working on extending the durability of nature based sequestration. We’re backed by some of the most prominent investors in Silicon Valley including Temasek, Toyota, Felicis Ventures, Y Combinator, and Chris Sacca of LowerCarbon Capital.
If you believe that climate change is the defining global emergency of the century and want to join an ambitious project that’s working on a biological solution, we’d love to hear from you.
We are seeking a highly proactive and collaborative Lead to join our Land Partnerships team. Living Carbon is reforesting lands across the Eastern US, particularly degraded coal mine and agricultural lands, in complex projects with the goal of achieving positive outcomes for the environment, local communities, and landowners. You will be responsible for identifying, engaging and educating, and onboarding new landowners to build high-quality forest carbon projects with us. We are looking for someone with a creative mindset and strong community engagement skills, who can help us build long-lasting relationships with new landowner groups like private owners, land trusts, nonprofits, corporates, government agencies, and tribal nations.
Your key activities in this role will be landowner outreach and engagement, working with referral partners, educating about Living Carbon forest carbon programs, aligning multiple stakeholders, and negotiating and closing commercial deals. You will have a world-class internal team of land agents, foresters, carbon scientists, GIS specialists, and commercial strategists to support your work. Building high-quality relationships and scaling our land pipeline will be your primary objectives in this role.
This role requires a candidate who can clearly and effectively communicate with both external partners and internal teams in a collaborative manner. A successful candidate will think creatively about project opportunities, bring back feedback from the field to improve our approach, and strive to find win-win solutions for all stakeholders involved in project development. You are empathetic to the problems others face, a good listener, and a team player and would be described as “willing to do what it takes to get the job done”. This role will report to our Senior Manager of Land Partnerships.
We highly encourage diverse candidates to apply and contact us with any questions about the application process.
