The Role:

The Lab Supervisor position at Meati plays a pivotal role within our state-of-the-art 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Thornton, Colorado, affectionately referred to as the "Mega Ranch". Our innovative process for crafting delicious and nutritious meat alternatives from mushroom root commences in the lab, where mycelium embarks on its transformative journey preceding fermentation and food processing stages. As the Lab Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all lab operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timeliness, safety protocols, and fostering a positive work environment throughout the process. This position does not entail direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the SOP database to uphold procedural integrity.
  • Facilitating effective communication between Operations and analytical teams.
  • Managing the flow of analysis and samples throughout the lab.
  • Spearheading lab solution ideation, tracking, and follow-up, with prompt escalation as necessary.
  • Ensuring seamless sample flow into and data flow out of the laboratory.
  • Efficiently managing data and overseeing multiple Excel spreadsheets, while exploring alternative solutions.
  • Liaising with purchasing for NetSuite upkeep and conducting lot code analysis as required.
  • Planning and scheduling tasks within the lab to optimize efficiency.
  • Oversight of inventory ordering to maintain adequate supplies.
  • Maintaining records and schedules for recurring lab upkeep and training sessions.
  • Leading Daily Direction Setting (DDS) and shift handover conversations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life science or microbiology preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a microbiological or wet chemistry laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new concepts, collaborate effectively within a team environment, and contribute positively to team dynamics.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ideally, a background in fungal biology, proficiency in statistical analysis, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with JMP software.

Compensation:

$70,000 - $92,000 including a potential annual bonus and equity. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
