Lucid Motors is building our Fabrication team in Newark (SF Bay Area)! We are currently seeking a Junior CNC Operator/Programmer. Experience working in a Prototype environment using a 3 or 5-axis is a plus but willing to train the right candidate. 

This team sits in the Design Department and builds show cars, retail fixtures, internal prototypes, full-sized and scale design models, and more to support Lucid Design and Marketing efforts all in a fast-paced prototype environment. Contract to start.

The Role

  • Turn CNC programs into physical parts using CNC machines
  • Build tools 
  • Stock planning and preparation 
  • Job setup 
  • Read engineering drawings and/or 3D models to extract dimensions and necessary GD&T information to produce the accurate part. 
  • Produce the needed quantity while periodically checking the accuracy of the machined parts. 
  • Deburr parts for safe handling and the next process. 
  • Program tool paths 
  • Periodic machine and shop area maintenance 
  • Perform machine-specific maintenance schedule 
  • Perform day-to-day operational maintenance 
  • Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience as a CNC programmer and machine operator in a prototype environment, setting up and running 5-axis machines a plus. 
  • Experience running Mitsubishi and Heidenhain CNC controllers a plus. 
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D digital models. 
  • Experience using CAD applications such as Fusion 360, Catia, and Solidworks a plus. 
  • Experience using CAM applications such as Fusion 360, and Powermill a plus. 
  • Technical, mechanical, and mathematical skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Patience and experience working in a fast-paced prototyping environment. 
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to get things done right.

  • High-density, low-density PU foam, tooling, and modeling boards 
  • MDF 
  • Plywood 
  • Natural wood 
  • Aluminum 
  • Acrylic, polycarbonate, etc
