iOS Engineer Intern

This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided.

Archer is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join Archer. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience within the Product Software team. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated iOS Engineer Intern to join a world-class engineering and design team that is shaping the future of aviation. As an intern, you will work on a cutting-edge iOS application that pushes the boundaries of hardware integration and on-device AI, where performance, correctness, and safety are non-negotiable. 

You will contribute to real, production-quality software used in safety-critical contexts, collaborating closely with experienced engineers, designers, and domain experts. If you are excited by low-level optimization, thoughtful system design, and building elegant user experiences on top of frontier technology, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, implement, and iterate on features that integrate deeply with device hardware and external sensors
• Contribute to on-device AI/ML workflows, focusing on performance, reliability, and safety
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Swift code that meets high engineering standards
• Profile and optimize application performance, memory usage, and power consumption
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, backend and AI engineers
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions with senior engineers

What You Need:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Solid programming fundamentals and data structures knowledge
• Experience building iOS apps using Swift and Xcode
• Familiarity with iOS frameworks such as UIKit and/or SwiftUI, CoreData, CoreBluetooth, and CoreML
• Understanding of concurrency concepts (e.g., GCD, async/await, threading fundamentals)
• Strong attention to detail and a mindset oriented toward correctness and reliability

Bonus Qualifications:

• Exposure to performance profiling and optimization on iOS
• Experience with embedded or hardware-adjacent development (Bluetooth, sensors, peripheral devices)
• Familiarity with GPU programming in Metal or MLX
• Experience writing unit tests or UI tests
• Prior internship, research, or substantial personal projects

  • May 26, 2026 - July 31, 2026
  • June 15, 2026 - August 21, 2026
    • *We will not be able to accommodate interns outside of these two program dates.
• This role will be based at Archer in San Jose, CA
• Relocation and housing will not be provided.
