We are currently seeking an Inventory Control Manager.  This position requires an experienced professional with the ability to over-see all aspects of inventory control efforts and inventory personnel for the facility while also developing and implementing all processes required to have a successful new product launch.  The successful candidate will have spent considerable time in an automotive manufacturing environment.  This position requires partnership with Supply Chain, QA/QC, Manufacturing, Packaging, Engineering, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs to implement new processes and manage changes. The Role:

  • Be an active member of the Logistics Management team, attending warehouse and plant leadership meetings.
  • Key Point of Contact for CBP, the FTZ Board and the Grantee on all Zone related issues
  • Regularly meet with leadership to review audit results and assist in correcting identified inaccuracies
  • Analyze reports to review processes, serving as a resource to offer procedural changes and recommendations to improve inventory accuracy. Based on audit results recommend training and/or performance management opportunities to management and supervisors of associates
  • Through collaboration with the other teams, develop quality focused goals and objectives
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the area Supervisors, to research and resolve variances and errors
  • Oversee the physical inventory preparation and reconciliation process for all facilities
  • Ensure that the corporate directed cut off dates are adhered to and that all paperwork controls are in place for all functional areas in prepping the building for the inventory
  • Lead the post inventory reconciliation phase, ensuring each processing area has reconciled variances
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable as needed to resolve invoicing variances
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of inventory transactions for the DC and fulfillment operations (includes sales, transfers, receipts, shipments, and adjustments)
  • Assist in Cycle Count/Physical Inventory Reconciliations and analysis in addition to coordinate timing, execution and reporting of cycle count/physical inventory as required
  • Ensure compliance with existing and develop/document new policies and procedures governing by SOX. 
  • Partner with Corporate Inventory Control to ensure that policies are in accordance with internal accounting practices and SOX narratives
  • Develop and direct process improvement initiatives and monitoring controls within functional area. Escalate and resolve issues proactively
  • Develop a highly skilled and well-trained staff to ensure the efficient and effective management of all function, with the ability to support a rapid-growth company, always striving to "raise the bar"
  • Develop necessary inventory-system changes as business requires
  • Maintain inventory by location system
  • Supervise a periodic cycle count of the entire building every six months. Investigate misplaced inventory. 
  • Monitor short pick trends and work with the Operations team to analyze and address areas of concern
  • Generate and monitor daily reports of inventory flow within the warehouse including all interim storage areas (inbound, outbound, returns, quality control). Enforce control procedures, track performance. Review standards
  • Audit receipts, track inbound flow, ensure timely turn on inbound. Track and audit put away accuracy
  • Direct the inventory storage strategies within the building to facilitate a more efficient pick process and quicker inventory turn
  • Ensure that new staff is adequately trained in detail positions that directly affect inventory integrity
  • Develop, implement and monitor inventory control policies and procedures
  • Champion, measure, and drive inventory accuracy and reduction through use of process improvement, visual controls and partnerships with other functional areas
  • Apply lean principles to drive positive change
  • Maintain full ownership for reduction of monthly cycle count variances, as well as annual physical inventory process
  • Support the business during peak production times
  • Proactively identify and work to address opportunities for improvement in stock room storage and control of material. Take ownership for improvements and see them through to completion, including the budgeting and approval process
  • Ability to understand inputs from other functions and strategize with partners on how to reduce waste and improve efficiency, while ensuring right sized levels of inventory for the business’ goals
  • Qualifications:

  • 9+ years total in Warehousing, Distribution, or Supply Chain Operations with thorough knowledge of Supply Chain systems and processes
  • 5+ years of experience in any of the following areas: material flow, warehouse design, transportation management, dedicated fleet operations, distribution center management, materials handling, decision support systems and technology
  • 2+ years of related automotive industry experience and LEAN manufacturing
  • 2+ years direct leadership experience
  • You possess the competencies needed for warehouse management - systems for inbound receipt, order fulfillment, returns processing, location management, inventory accuracy, cycle counting and removal of obsolete inventory.
  • Fluency in warehouse safety programs and OHSA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all associates and managers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time with ability to meet project timelines.
  • Experience in automation and warehouse/logistics optimization project management
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Experience with WMS and TMS software applications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Supply Chain, Logistics Engineering, or related field.  An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
  • LEAN, GK, or Six Sigma Certifications a plus
