Intern - Design Engineer - ESS (m/f/d)

Your role and your team:

You will report directly to a Design Engineering Team Leader responsible for a group of Design Engineers within the Design and Aerostructures Team. The Design and Aerostructures Team is one of the functions within the Lilium organization, its members being responsible for designing and developing among others the structure, landing gear, propulsion and battery system of our aircraft across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.

As a Design Engineer Intern you will be working closely with various project teams and you will be responsible for the design of various test and flying parts, playing a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.

Your Day to Day:

· Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings in CAD (Siemens NX)

· Develop engineering hand calculation tools for component sizing

· Consult with engineers of other disciplines, for example Manufacturing Engineers regarding the manufacture of your designs

· Manage the design data of your system in Teamcenter

· Document your work according to the relevant Lilium processes

· Work on any ad hoc related projects or tasks

All the above tasks will be completed under the supervision and guidance of Mechanical Engineers and other Design Engineers.

Your Profile:

· Working towards and having completed at least 2 years of a mechanical or aerospace engineering degree

· Experience with metallic and/or composite materials is beneficial

· Experience with thermal calculations is beneficial

· Knowledge of CAD is required (Siemens NX & Teamcenter is beneficial)

· Basic knowledge of ISO GPS (alternatively ASME GD&T) and overall good drafting skills are required

· High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously if required

· Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required

· Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
