About the company:
We are currently seeking an intern for Controls and Automation Engineer on the Powertrain Data and Automation Team. Our team focuses on providing Test Automation solution to Powertrain R&D labs, Powertrain Manufacturing Automated test systems and provide data science and data engineering solutions across various departments in powertrain group. This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to develop and test electrical designs. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Role/Responsibilities:
· Design and build automated test system for validation of power electronics components and systems
· Develop, Maintain, and improve the automated test application for power electronic components.
· Work with design engineer to troubleshoot issues during the validation.
· Work closely with test labs to plan and track the validation progress.
· Document the test results and improvement suggestions.
· Responsible to design & develop the ATW (Automated Test Equipment)
· Responsible to design & develop the test application using NI LabVIEW, Python, or other test automation tools
· Analyze and utilize test equipment such as data acquisition devices, power supplies, transducers, I/O devices, and other hardware to meet test requirements
· Responsible to make bench setup for manual test & automated test system based on test requirements, maintain & troubleshoot if any issues arise
· Assist with developing test cases/plans based on requirements
· Contribute to creating documentation during any stage of product development
· Collaborate with multiple teams to meet project deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
· Good Knowledge of NI LabVIEW and NI Teststand concepts & programming.
· Experienced in developing & maintaining intermediate level LabVIEW Applications.
· Experienced with communication protocols like Automotive Ethernet, Serial Communication, CAN, LIN etc.,
· Experienced in Data Acquisition & Handling NI Hardware and third-party Test Instruments.
· Experienced in Functional Testing, End of Line Testing etc.,
· Industrial testing/validation experience with power electronics components.
· Experience in Design/Production workbench standards and practice.
· Good software & hardware troubleshooting skills.
· Basic knowledge of electrical & electronics circuits and components
Nice to Have:
· Knowledge and understanding of Veristand and HIL Testing
· Basic understanding of AI tools, LLM, Python Automation frameworks is a plus
Education:
· Field(s) of study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university
· Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)
Program Information:
· Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
· Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
· Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
· Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $43 to $63.
· Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
· Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
· Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
· Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
· Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
· Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.
