12-16 week internship program & 4-6 month co-op program40-50 hours per week with set hourly salary based on year in schoolOpportunities vary between onsite in Somerville, MA and Devens, MA as well as a remote option. If an intern/co-op is going to be on site, you will be responsible for your own transportation and housingSpecific project assignments and required technical skillset will vary based on the team’s existing need. Opportunities available for currently enrolled college students in all levels of schooling from bachelor’s degree to PhDInterns/co-ops must be authorized to work in the United States for any employerProjects this team member will work on may include, but not limited to:
Develop and qualify manufacturing techniques, processes, flow maps, and work instructions for superconducting magnet components and assembliesWork with design and equipment engineers to develop custom automation equipmentMultiscale structural computational modeling of high-field superconducting magnetsDevelop electromagnetic optimization framework for sizing and placement of magnetic coilsCharacterization and testing of high temperature superconducting material to support magnet engineering projectsNeutronics analyses such as energy deposition in delicate materials or shielding sensitivity studies for diagnostics designSupply Chain Planning and Planning ToolsPerform a wide range of Safety and Health disciplines to implement workplace safety and industrial hygiene processesThe ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:
Hands-on experience through academic research, project teams, machine shops, hackathons, or industry internshipsDemonstration of exceptional results through a range of different pursuitsHigh self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
