To execute this plan, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven and treat people well, improve our team by adding diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits, and have skill sets and experience that relate to this role.

The SPARC instrumentation and control team seek an engineer to take responsibility for the design, sourcing, implementation, testing, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation within the SPARC tokamak. This individual will work with instrumentation ranging from hot and cryogenic temperature measurement, structural measurements, electrical and magnetic instrumentation, and other measurements in extreme thermal and radiation environmental conditions, making use of electronic and optical sensing methods. This individual will own selection and sourcing of the instruments themselves – interfacing with subsystem owners to define instrumentation requirements and detailed sensor integration strategies – and be responsible for the entire instrument signal chain from sensor, through feedthroughs and cable routes, to interfaces with data acquisition and control systems.

CFS team members thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits. We all tightly align with our company values of integrity, execution, impact and self-critique. As we grow, we are looking to add talented people who are mission driven and bring diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems.

At CFS, we deeply value diversity and are an equal opportunity employer by choice. We consider all qualified applicants equally for employment. • Coordinate and oversee implementation, testing, installation, and commissioning of the I&C systems according to the project schedule
  • Manage suppliers of components and integrated subsystems of the I&C systems
  • Produce engineering deliverables such as instrument lists, signal lists, loop diagrams, data sheets and cabling schedules
  • Produce testing, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance procedures for the I&C systems
  • Ensure the design is completed in compliance with the Code of Record and established requirements
  • Maintain interfaces with other engineering subsystems
  • Report on and be accountable for progress to the head of I&C and the engineer responsible for the systems for which the I&C is being produced

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in process, chemical, electrical or instrumentation and control engineering, or similar
  • Direct experience specifying and installing instrumentation systems from concept to completion
  • Application of engineering fundamentals to provide specific I&C solutions depending on the process needs
  • Proficiency integrating and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits
  • AVEVA or similar electrical design toolset and database
  • Cryogenic systems and instrumentation
  • Vacuum systems and instrumentation
  • Current best practices and emerging technologies in sensing technology
  • Additional experience and/or qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience specifying and installing instrumentation systems from concept to completion under a QA program
  • Direct experience with complex wire and cable integration including vacuum feedthroughs
  • Instrumentation in challenging environments, including extreme temperature and radiation
