The successful team member will be self-motivated, quick-thinking, flexible, creative, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities, across a number of human resources areas.  We are looking for someone who has a broad knowledge across all areas of human resources and is detail-oriented.  This role will initially be focused on owning all elements of benefits administration, benefits management, and payroll tax administration. We are a fast growing and innovative team and are looking for the right person to help us support our growth and all of our team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administration of compensation and benefits
  • Maintain, update and audit employee record and benefits 
  • Regulatory compliance and reporting
  • Maintain and create records, reports, and documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations 
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing to include but not limited base pay, hours worked, payroll taxes, benefit enrollment, benefit deductions, etc. 
  • Run and process payroll with support and collaboration
  • Develop and administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company team members; participating in developing department goals, objectives, and systems 
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that contributions and deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain department records and reports; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Work with an unconventional team that prides itself on creative approaches to human resource practices and processes
  • Great communication skills that can build strong relationships with internal and external teams
  • Proactively take initiative and makes decisions confidently 
  • Manage risk and changing the direction of projects and strategies 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree HR/Business Management/Finance or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 5-7 years related HR experience, at least 3 of these years focused in payroll, reporting, and/or benefits administration
  • Thorough knowledge of HR principles and federal/state/local regulations and ability to stay current on laws and regulations that would impact the business
  • Highly analytical, accurate and detail oriented
  • Excellent ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment 
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential
  • Strong knowledge of payroll across US and Canada preferred
  • Experience in Payroll and HRIS systems such as Paylocity or something similar
  • Exhibit extraordinary discretion, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with various teams
  • Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Ensures compliance with federal, mutli-state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Understanding of compliance with Canadian payroll practices, accuracy, and information
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Supports benefits administration with various types of enrollment 
  • Support and conduct internal and external audits of data and information
  • Processes monthly billings from providers. Reviews billings for accuracy and approves for payment in a timely manner. Resolves discrepancies with carriers and payroll.
