To ensure that we deliver a safe low carbon heat install to our domestic customers, we look to continually develop the safety, compliance and quality assurance side of the business.
We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. Working as part and alongside compliance team to develop the internal safety and quality management of our employee’s and technical process’s and standards, ensuring a consistent high level of safe service is delivered to our customers and our engineer and employees within Octopus Energy Services.
You'll have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You'll be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.
The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.
This is a hybrid role with regular travel to our distribution centre in Slough.

What you'll do
Support the SHE Manager and the wider operational business to ensure all aspects of works are procured, managed and delivered in line with internal and external SHE requirementsWork and support the logistic and transport managersManage third party HSE providers across Octopus portfolio, driving safety culture across and ensuring compliance with OR standards and proceduresDevelop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelinesPrepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safetyEvaluate facilities to assess risk and adherence to the lawConduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident preventionIdentify any gaps in the health and safety systems and recommend improvements.Investigate accidents or incidents to discover direct causesRecommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures and report on health and safety awareness, issues and statisticsWork with the wider team to onboard and grow our supply chainWhat you'll need
Proven experience as a Health & Safety ManagerExperience in health and safety side of Logistics and Transport as well as understanding of legal health and safety guidelinesHave completed a NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalentHold a technical qualification e.g. electrical or gas qualification (Minimum of 3 years).Hold an internal auditing qualification e.g ISO45001Have In depth understanding of UK H&S legislation and its practical application in social housing refurbishment projects or similar (CDM, WAH, Asbestos and Gas etc)Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policiesGood knowledge of data analysis and risk assessmentValid qualification in occupational health and safetyWhy else you'll love it here
