We are developing our online commodity marketplace which allows farmers to find more sellers and buyers and to identify the best possible deals out there. And this is where you come in:

As Head of Science & Advisory in the Program function you will coordinate across multiple projects and activities that support delivery on new and existing carbon and natural capital technologies, and how they are understood across our teams and with key stakeholders. We are looking for someone who has a scientific background with experience in project and team management. You will have a knowledge of climate, environmental or carbon sciences combined with an ability to communicate and effectively include this knowledge in the Agreena Program. An ideal candidate is mission-driven, with a deeply rooted ambition to transform scientific insights and understanding into a solution with real impact.

The Agreena Program function investigates the science required for on farm activity and data measurement that can support verification by independent standards. The function comprises of Science & Advisory, Standards, Program & Data Operations groups. You will be a part of the focus on Science and Advisory team and will be working closely and supporting the whole function efforts to build Agreena methodologies to meet international carbon standards, internal training and support to build technical understanding of the business.

How will you make an impact:

  • Managing a high performing Science, Modelling and Advisory support team to deliver aligned business impact projects whilst supporting their growth and development
  • Contributing to the wider Agreena Program strategy for growth and impact in providing nature-based solutions for farmers and land-managers. Coordinate the team around the overall business strategy ensuring considered decisions are made in alignment with the group
  • Engaging with internal and external functions to support the communication of nature-based solutions, science and methodologies in a practical and feasible way to help the business to implement changes, including alignment with our international standards, activities to be practised on farms, data required to provide evidence and other initiatives. 
  • Overseeing the technical development of a multi-land use and international program of work that delivers carbon measurements in agriculture and forestry. 
  • Innovating with the team on new solutions for increased efficiency and accuracy of current processes, based on a foundation of solid scientific evidence. 
  • Collaborating with the wider Agreena teams to translate this work from research into activities and logic that help strengthen our existing work and platform. Building and maintaining strong relationships and partnerships with leading Universities and Institutions in this field to jointly build and improve a solid backbone and taxonomy for the decarbonization of agriculture.
  • Who we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in managing large complex projects to deliver technical, science- based findings and outcomes in a corporate setting
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in relation to climate science (GHG fluxes, biogeochemistry, soil carbon in agriculture, other nature-based solutions in agriculture and/or forestry)
  • Experience collaborating or working in either carbon markets, commercial industry, agri-food supply chain or other related sector.
  • A broad scientific knowledge of research and relevant literature in climate change, soil carbon and/or the environment with focus in the agricultural and agroforestry sectors
  • Evidence of effective communication with multiple stakeholder groups e.g peer-reviewed publications, articles or other material within environmental sciencesAdvanced Education in Agronomy, Biology, Engineering or similar;Strong leader and team player, with a people-focus and organised approach to projects Fluency in English.

  • Please note - We are happy for this position to be worked remotely however it will involve trips to our office in Copenhagen
