About this internship

UPSIDE has grown fast over the last two years, and the momentum continues! The 2023 Global Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (GSRA) Intern will produce insightful research and analysis on international regulatory developments affecting the cultivated meat industry. The right person will be skilled at producing persuasive, well-reasoned, and compelling writing on complex topics and will be energized by joining a team that’s going to change the future of food!

Responsibilities include

• Survey the landscape of existing regulatory standards and labeling frameworks applicable to novel foods/cultivated meat
• Communicate current status of regulatory and policy developments in international jurisdictions to the GSRA team
• Collaborate with industry stakeholders on shared policy priorities
• Examine interplay between intellectual property laws and regulatory frameworks in international jurisdictions

About you

• Law student who is passionate about making the global food system better for the planet, people, and animals
• Detail-oriented, with excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Demonstrable ability to adhere to ambitious timelines 
• Strong intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness with a bias for action!
• Fluency in English is required, foreign language proficiency in Japanese or Korean highly desirable

Who you’ll work with

• This role will report directly into the Director of International Regulatory Affairs 
• This intern will also collaborate closely with the legal team and various members of the regulatory and product development teams.  

Length of internship

• 10-12 weeks

Compensation Range: $32/hr*
*Pay may vary depending on factors including job-related knowledge and skills.
