Muon Space is building the FireSat constellation, a mission optimized for global wildfire detection and monitoring. FireSat’s thermal anomaly detection and characterization capabilities are also of great interest to the US Defense and Intelligence communities for dual-use applications. Muon’s IR Data Products team is building the analytics system that processes the data from our spacecraft’s custom multispectral imaging instruments into data products and analytics for end-users of data from this mission. This role will be the technical lead on developing and maintaining data processing pipelines and data products to serve the US Defense and Intelligence community.
In this role, the candidate will initially focus on two key areas:
Additionally, the role will have the opportunity to work closely with Muon’s Business Development (BD) team and the Defense and Intelligence community end-users to clarify customers needs, as well as to explore developing new products for dual-use applications.
The ideal candidate has experience with geospatial data processing of infrared imagery, data engineering including setting up and running pipelines in cloud infrastructure in production, and experience with US Defense and Intelligence community needs. Muon Space is looking for candidates that are excited to unlock the potential of the FireSat mission for this user community. Additional responsibilities will include writing production-ready code, geospatial data engineering, as well as interacting with key US D&I stakeholders and end users to guide product development. This role will interact with software engineering teams to build and operate pipelines, instrument engineering and science teams to ensure a deep understanding of the measurements being made as well as the needs of the data users, business development to interface with end-users of these data, and mission management to ensure effective execution. This role will ensure Muon’s data products are of the highest scientific quality, are built to meet end-user needs, and achieve Muon’s goals of ensuring a safe and resilient world.
The salary range for this role is $203,000 - $254,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
