At Octopus Energy Heating we’re developing a home heating revolution through innovative heat pumps which will significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels and bring a cleaner more sustainable world. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, self-starting and technically strong Finance Controller to join Octopus Energy Group’s emerging heat pump manufacturing business in Craigavon, Northern Ireland. The role is based in Craigavon, with a preference for a candidate who can travel to the site on either daily or highly regular basis.

In this role, you will lead our core finance functions and be responsible for developing and implementing robust financial processes, policies, controls, reporting and risk management procedures.

Your primary area of responsibility will be our Financial Operations, Financial Management & Accounting, Planning & Analysis and Financial reporting. You will work with Octopus Energy Group’s Credit team, Group finance team and also support our Strategic Finance team.

A broad understanding of various business functions, including the interaction between Finance, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Finance’s role in general business strategy will be key. You’ll also be responsible for performance, planning and development of the core finance teams as the business expands.

We are looking for a candidate with the ability to build financial processes from the ground up, working flexibly together with both the team on site as well as Octopus Energy Group Financial Control based in London. A willingness to get stuck in while the local business in its early growth phase will be very important, and a genuine passion for renewable energy and the energy transition is a must.

What you'll do

Own core finance in our rapidly scaling manufacturing business

Oversee all financial operations

Be the internal expert on accounting treatments and policies

Provide timely and relevant financial management information to the Senior Leadership team to inform business strategy and commercial decision-making

Work with data, systems and reporting teams to improve our core processes and data flows - creating scalable, robust and efficient processes

Drive a balance between delivering on timelines and robust, process-driven financial and risk management

Encourage a culture of collaboration

What you'll need

Excellent experience with Finance - ideally in a manufacturing environment

An aptitude for the technical aspects of accounting and finance, ideally with accounting qualifications

A passion for, and experience of, using technology to drive automation and efficiency in a finance function

Be a problem solver that can take others with you in your decision making

Experience with FCA guidelines and requirements

To be keen to get stuck in and build new processes from scratch in areas like month end processing, stock management, etc.
