Bear Flag is an early stage team at John Deere, acquired in August 2021, with a growing portfolio of projects in the autonomy space and is looking for a Field Technology Engineer to join our growing team.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $80,000 and $120,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.

Management of on-farm operations ensuring strong collaborator relationships and safe environments

Communicate and update the team of locations, issues, planned location changes, and any field conditions present they need to be aware of

Help specialists troubleshoot issues and report/file bugs

Perform all functions safely following both customers’ and Bear Flag Robotics procedures and protocols

Attend and participate in company meetings

Investigate, report, and document issues with quality, mechanical/technical, or negative collaborator interactions

Adjust hardware or software of farm machinery and notify collaborators when collaborator machinery malfunctions

Being a positive spokesperson and representative of Bear Flag Robotics

Make contributions to maintain a positive team working environment while maintaining positive relations with collaborators, collaborator personnel, and other Bear Flag team members

Support the overall success of Bear Flag Robotics by performing all other duties as assigned.

Ability to use the various functions of a multimeter

Basic understanding and diagnostics of electrical, hydraulic, and electro mechanical systems

Strong understanding and ability to navigate the command line within linux

Ability to identify and automate repetitive tasks by developing basic bash and python scripts

Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

Effectively develop and maintain documentation of technical subjects

Embody strong qualities of collaboration, listening, adaptability, empathy, and patience

Desire for continuous learning and development of colleagues

Effectively manage the movement of data to respective destinations

Ability to build and maintain electrical systems (crimping, splicing, soldering).G Suite, Git, Jira ticketing system, Confluence, and related programs

Basic fabrication skills are a plus. (drilling, cutting, grinding, welding)Safely and effectively operate equipment in orchard systems

Safely and effectively load, secure, and tow equipment.
