About the company:

Recycleye is a London-based technology company that develops AI-powered sorting equipment and analytics solutions for the waste management industry. Its core products include robotic sorting systems and data-driven insights tools designed to help recycling facilities improve throughput volume, increase offtake purity, reduce operational expenditure, and address labour shortages on sorting lines. The company serves waste management businesses globally, offering solutions capable of identifying and sorting a wide range of materials including plastics (PET, PP, HDPE), non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, fibre, cartons, and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Recycleye's mission is rooted in transforming the world's waste into a resource, contributing directly to the circular economy by enabling more accurate and efficient material recovery. By retrofitting existing recycling infrastructure with advanced computer vision and robotics, the company helps divert greater volumes of valuable materials from residual waste streams, supporting sustainability goals for both its clients and the broader materials sector. What distinguishes Recycleye is its combination of retrofittable, robust AI robotic systems with real-time analytics, making advanced automation accessible to existing plants without requiring full facility overhauls. Its platform supports limitless waste classification categories and has been deployed in partnership with leading industry operators, demonstrating measurable improvements in sorting accuracy and plant profitability.

About the Role

Recycleye is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our small, hands-on support team. You'll be on the ground diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues on our AI-powered sorting systems, deployed in live operational environments at waste management facilities across the UK and Europe. This is an entry-level, travel-intensive role, ideal for someone with a technical foundation who wants to build deep, practical experience with robotics, computer vision, and industrial systems in the field.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues on live, operational systems in waste management facilities
  • Communicate clearly and calmly with customers and internal teams during high-pressure incidents, providing structured updates from initial diagnosis through resolution
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring or novel faults and feed findings back to engineering
  • Carry out routine maintenance, installations, and system checks
  • Work independently on-site while staying closely coordinated with the wider support and engineering teams
  • Travel extensively (approx. 75%) to customer sites across the UK and Europe

Skills & Experience

  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills; able to interpret data and diagnostic information to identify issues
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in troubleshooting and reporting
  • Customer service mindset — able to represent Recycleye professionally on-site
  • Root cause analysis skills; Six Sigma exposure a plus
  • Software/network debugging skills
  • Additional languages a plus, not required (useful given European travel)

Personal Attributes

  • Accurate and detail-oriented
  • Collaborative and personable
  • Hardworking, with a strong sense of initiative
  • Calm and effective under pressure
  • Genuine customer service mentality

Qualifications

  • UK driving license preferred
  • Engineering degree, HNC, or equivalent higher-level apprenticeship

Additional Details

  • Based in the UK; must be willing and able to travel approximately 75% of the time across the UK and Europe
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid passport with no restrictions on travel within Europe
  • Comfortable working independently, often on remote or unaccompanied site visits
  • Willingness to work in waste management/recycling facility environments
  • Future shift rotation possible to support 24/7 coverage as the team grows
