What You Will Be Doing

The Field Service Technician, FST, will work in a post-sale Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, EVSE, environment providing onsite customer support for ChargePoint’s products installed in the field. The primary scope of the FST is to provide rapid response in key areas within the scope of our Service Level Agreements, SLAs, with the end users of ChargePoint’s owned or operated equipment. The successful candidate will possess strong customer focus and required technical and soft skills to perform EVSE commissioning, site remediation and repairs, warranty claim investigations, technology performance issues and customer support.

Primary Focus Areas

  • Perform onsite commissioning, maintenance, remediation, and warranty services on new and legacy installed Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment.
  • Provide Technical and after sales support internally and with customers during installation, commissioning, and upgrades utilizing ChargePoint’s approved methods.
  • Provide training and guidance on all service-related procedures to peers and end-users.
  • Ensure fulfillment of all necessary documentation and material/parts handling.
  • Follow-up on product performance issues, customer quality complaints, product failures, root cause analyses and work cross-functionally to drive to closure.
  • Collect and aggregate equipment performance data and present to cross-functional subject matter experts for resolution.
  • Provide customers with regular updates on the problem-solving progress of requests or complaints until resolution for increased customer satisfaction.
  • Strive to be the subject matter expert and execution lead for safety, field service best practices and highest customer satisfaction.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and maintenance at various site locations on new and legacy equipment.
  • Assist in managing spare parts inventories.
  • Develop and deliver commissioning, maintenance, and remediation reports.
  • Perform all tasks within ChargePoint’s, local, national, and customer safety guidelines.
  • Assist in developing and improving processes related to improvement initiatives and serve as a feedback loop to cross-functional teams.
  • Document all issues while onsite and take appropriate action to get functional or cross-functional buy in for resolution.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and software tools.

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is the minimum qualification.
  • Associates degree in an electrical discipline, or electrical journeyman license is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on power/electrical systems, power electronics, software, or controls experience is required.
  • Regular and extended overnight & extended travel is a key component of the role
  • A safety-first attitude is required.
  • Must be customer focused, possess a positive attitude with excellent teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to operate test instruments (Power Quality Analyzer, Multimeter, Phase Rotation Meter…) and hand tools.
  • Proficiency in performing software updates remotely or onsite is required.
  • Must be able to work in different environments across North America (hot, cold, humid, etc..).
  • Ability to isolate, diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems and perform repairs with minimum guidance.
  • Excellent conflict negotiating and active listening skills are required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent), English (verbal and written), organization, planning, time, and project management.
  • Attention to detail at high level of accuracy is required.
  • Valid electrical apprentice or journeyman is a plus.
  • Experience in Photovoltaic or similar DC systems industry is preferred
  • Working knowledge of NEC, UL1741, OSHA, IEEE1547.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, reach above shoulder, stand, walk, twist, turn, stoop, bend, squat, …

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $40,500 to $85,750. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
