ICON is seeking an FEA Specialist who will be responsible for the execution of finite element analysis ranging from structural static, non-linear static, linear response dynamic, thermal and thermal-fluids where you will execute the analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and required tools, comply with business and industry standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements supporting ICON’s mission of making dignified housing accessible to everyone and advance humanity with our technology. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus and will report to the Director of Hardware. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform and deliver structural analysis, with respect to defined product requirements.
  • Define, in pre-Engineering phase, with the Technical Program Manager, the necessary structural calculations to be performed during project execution.
  • Prepare the 3D model for simulations, and execute it following standard processes.
  • Perform simulation results analysis, and proposes optimization solutions.
  • Support Technical Program Manager in establishing Certification & Validation Plans.
  • Participate in relevant Design / Verification reviews.
  • Contribute to mechanical design and associated program deliverables on systems, subassemblies or small self-contained systems including DFMEA, DFX, packaging, and system testing.
  • Update program management on project progress and roadblocks.
  • Support design validation efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum 15 years of working experience in Finite Element Analysis.
  • Ph.D Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials (SEMM).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Proficiency with Abacus, Ansys, SolidWorks.
  • Working in an industrial environment (field).
  • Ability to Travel as required - 10%.

  • Proven working experience in structural, thermal and fluid flow analysis.
  • Ability to deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to convey technical information to team members in a manner that is easily interpreted.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Adept at communicating in a collaborative team environment and seeking optimum solutions with other team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Effective problem identification and solution based mindset.
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills.
