Who You Are

As a Facilities Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, maintenance and sanitation of the facility. The duties may vary depending on specific organizational needs, such as outside landscaping, weed control, snow removal and various other activities.

Responsibilities and Duties  

  • Cleaning and sanitizing: Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing various areas including conference rooms, restrooms, kitchens, common areas, and equipment. 
  • Waste management: Properly handle and dispose of waste, including emptying trash receptacles, recycling bins and hazardous waste containers in accordance with regulations and company policies. 
  • Maintenance and repairs: Maintain the facility by identifying and addressing maintenance needs, such as reporting plumbing issues, fixinging broken fixtures, changing light bulbs, and coordinating with external contractors for more extensive repairs. 
  • Safety and security: Ensure that the facility meets safety standards by identifying and addressing potential hazards, such as spills, damaged equipment, or obstructions. Additionally, monitor security systems, lock and unlock doors and report any security concerns. 
  • Inventory management: Monitor and maintain supplies of cleaning and maintenance products and equipment, ensuring they are stocked and stored appropriately. This includes ordering supplies when needed and keeping track of inventory levels. 
  • Communication and coordination: Communicate with facility management and staff members to address maintenance and cleaning needs. Coordinate with other departments for external vendors as necessary for specific tasks or repairs.
  • Documentation: Keep records for cleaning and maintenance activities, such as work orders, maintenance logs, and incident reports. Maintain accurate records of inventory and supply usage. 
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies related to cleaning, maintenance, and facility management. 
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve cleaning processes, equipment, or procedures to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and the overall appearance of the facility.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

  • Ability to analyze issues and identify the root causes, and develop effective solutions in a timely manner. 
  • Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment, as well as basic knowledge of mechanical , electrical and plumbing systems. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to notice and address small issues before they escalate into larger problems, as well as thoroughness in record keeping and documentation. 
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities while adhering to deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and coordinate efforts with internal and external stakeholders, such as contractors or vendors.
  • Focus on providing quality service to internal employees and external visitors by maintaining a clean, safe, and functional facility. 
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities, emergencies, and unforeseen circumstances that may arise in a facility management role.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
  • Move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
  • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Reach low shelves or items on the floor
  • Enter spaces narrower than 3 feet
  • Precise and repetitive handling of a range of material quantities
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location

Regular Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

The starting base pay for this role is between $41/hr and $52/hr at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, and equity.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for overtime.
