Your role and your team: 

This position will report to our EWIS manager and will actively contribute to the EWIS development. The EWIS Senior Systems Engineer is part of an interdisciplinary integrated project team responsible for the complete development of EWIS from architecture definition, through design, verification and certification up to the delivery of the Lilium aircraft. 

We are looking to reinforce our EWIS team with a senior level professional, able to cover all EWIS development aspects but with a particular focus on certification and verification. This key function in our organisation will act as the link between cross functional teams such as Safety, Airworthiness, Testing and V&V. You will take responsibility for the certification and verification approach of EWIS. 

You will have an opportunity to shape the future of mobility by not only defining EWIS, but also by developing components and co-ordinating with regulatory partners and suppliers. Building upon your expertise you'll play a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life. 

Your Day-to-Day: 

  • Own the EWIS certification plan and communication wih regulatory authorities (EASA and FAA). 
  • Define the Validation and Verification approach. 
  • Conduct design and project reviews to ensure compliance to development and certification processes. 
  • Lead supplier monitoring activities and coordination of different stakeholders. 
  • Supporting testing and qualification activities. 
  • Support EWIS topics of technical strategy, architecture, safety, certification, and production. 
  • Support EWIS project management, planning, risk identification, coordination and reporting within the team. 
  • Support team members in their tasks and coordinate activities with others systems. 
  • Prepare and continuously improve processes, guidelines and tools for EWIS development. 

Your Profile: 

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field required. 
  • Minimum 10 years of aerospace experience, with good knowledge of a Part 21J design organisation environment. 
  • Knowledge of systems engineering development according to ARP4754A, safety and certification processes such as AC 25.1701-1, AMC 20-23, CS-25 subpart H and electrical standards such as AC43.13-1B. 
  • Experience with certification of aircraft systems, especially coordinating with regulatory authorities and producing certification plans, compliance documents, V&V and test plans 
  • Experience of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects, and DO160 awareness is highly appreciated. 
  • Experience of managing suppliers is required. 
  • Strong motivation to help build processes, guidelines and tools for EWIS development. 
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously. 
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem solving skills required. 
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required. 
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
