We are seeking talented engineers to join our team and help make a dent in the climate crisis.

Climate Robotics is a venture-backed startup based in Houston, TX. We are building the next generation of agricultural machinery to produce biochar, a powerful soil amendment that improves soil health and sequesters atmospheric carbon. We seek dynamic, driven, and adventurous engineers to join our team in developing in-field pyrolysis systems. Tinkereers, hackers, and mad scientists preferred. You will work with our team bringing pioneering technology to life, coordinate research projects, and ensure projects are executed smoothly. Work includes project management of prototype R&D pyrolysis systems, tracking project spending and budgets, managing outside vendors, and coordinating the operation of pyrolysis systems. This role is in person at our Houston location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create models and drawings of R&D systems and parts in SolidWorks
  • Research different pathways and present data-driven solutions to technical problems
  • Create detailed plans to produce and test R&D systems
  • Manage R&D projects and teams to meet deliverables successfully
  • Align deliverables with company goals and critical timelines
  • Track project spending and costs and keep within budget
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop novel, in-field pyrolysis systems
  • Coordinate work with outside vendors
  • Coordinate operations between engineering, fabrication, field operations, and management.
  • Be hands-on in the assembly, testing, and operation of R&D systems or mobile pyrolysis systems

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with FEA, CFD, and GD&T
  • Experience with large-scale industrial equipment, agricultural equipment, or mobile tools
  • Experience with hydraulic systems, mainly designing hydraulic circuits
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced R&D environment

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar
  • Excellent hands-on experience working with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Previous experience working on R&D projects
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Alignment with company mission
  • Authorized to work in the USA for any employer

Work Environment

Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The noise level may be loud at times.
