Your role and your team:

We are seeking an experienced Materials and Process (M&P) engineering manager to support our team dedicated to our Propulsion Integrated Product Team (IPT). The ideal candidate is eager to learn and ready to apply their knowledge in a unique and exciting program environment. You will be responsible to manage the materials group that is assigned to support various composite, metallic, and systems design tasks, including prototype development, material selection, part qualification and process control as part of the aircraft certification effort.

As part of the M&P team, you will work closely with the Propulsion IPT members in supporting all aspects of design, manufacturing, and quality assurance for the electric motor, flap, and supporting systems. Additional responsibilities will include the hands-on concept development, an active role in generating material design allowables, and the documentation of results required for the associated specifications.

Your Day to Day:

  • Responsible for managing the M&P team for a wide variety of high-performance metallic and non-metallic materials used in safety critical applications.
  • Responsible for providing expert guidance in a multifunctional team, supporting stress evaluation and design efforts with material and process subject matter expertise.
  • Responsible for driving qualification efforts and design allowable management, including the development of specifications, written test plan and test reports.
  • Research new technology proposals for rapid concept evaluation, including provide recommendations for next generation structural and system solutions.
  • Support various program needs, which include design failure mode and effect analysis, substantiation of non-conformance dispositions, failure analysis, root cause and corrective action analyses.
  • Define technical roadmaps to achieve program objectives, including development of initial concepts, prototyping, verification, and validation efforts. Drive qualification efforts by writing test plans, reports, and specifications and establish statistically based requirements for aerospace certification.
  • Research new technology proposals and provide recommendations for rapid concept evaluation and implementation.

Your Profile:

  • BS. in engineering or science (i.e., mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, material science and engineering, or similar) (Ph.D./ M. Sc. preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional aerospace experience, ideally managing a team in a certification environment.
  • A strong background in metallic and non-metallic manufacturing processes is desired, including experience with process development, material selection, and prototype development.
  • Experience within Prototype Development within a certification environment is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of material and process qualification is required, with hands-on experience in the design and development of advanced aerospace parts being beneficial.
  • Self-reliance with the ability to manage a team, as well as work individually as tasks require.
  • Highly energetic personality is desirable, with a goal-oriented collaborative working style and demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills are essential.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, Fluent German or any other language would be beneficial.
