Your Role

As Engineering Manager - Electricity Grid Forecast (f/m/d) you will build and lead a small cross-functional engineering squad (approx. 3-4 people). Your and your squads mission is to develop an AI-based forecast of timeseries for grid congestions in low voltage grids. Based on weather forecasts, historical data, external sensor data and a digital twin model of the electricity grid you will prepare a prognosis of expected grid utilizations, provide them to external stakeholders via APIs and develop an user interface to visualize these results within our software product. Additionally to your work within the Squad, you cooperate in a management team together with other Engineering Managers, as well as the Engineering Directors and VP Engineering.

How You Make an Impact

  • You coach, mentor and help your direct reports to grow as engineers through 1:1s, performance reviews and regular feedback
  • You work closely with the squad, Product Manager and further stakeholders and orchestrate the process of refining the product and technical roadmap
  • You manage and coordinate internal feature requests and requirements, being capable of assessing technical feasibilities on a high level
  • You steer and monitor the delivery of software in the squad in an agile working environment and enable your squad to deliver software of high value in an efficient and consistent way
  • You evolve the squad by identifying and attracting talent during the recruiting process and shape the individual growth paths of your direct reports
  • You incorporate your technical knowledge over code reviews and sparring on technical concepts
  • You shape engineering practices by contributing your ideas in technical or organizational projects in the department

Your Profile

  • You have a proven skillset to lead and manage a cross-functional group of Software Engineers and are comfortable to apply this for a wide range of engineer skill levels (from Junior to Staff Engineer)
  • You have strong experience in the development of web applications as well as AI/ML models, processes and workflows
  • You strive in complex environments and enjoy working on challenging technical problems, for example in the domains electrical engineering, digital-twins or time series forecasting
  • You are experienced in growing and forming a diverse team by recruiting and subsequent teambuilding
  • You have excellent communication skills and are motivated to coach Engineers on their personal and professional growth path
  • You are familiar with parts of our tech stack and are confident to work with it
  • You are business-fluent in English and German (Level B2/C1)
