We are dedicated to shaping an inclusive culture that drives excellence, innovation, and results by enabling talent acceleration and development, engagement, and the employee experience.  The Engineering Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as an Engineering Manager.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing their technical expertise and problem-solving skills to identify and address issues that affect the efficiency of a plant. This role will provide leadership for major capital projects and ensure active line teams have solutions needed to drive safety, quality, performance plans, and results. The Engineering Manager will also oversee the plant’s engineering staff to provide the highest executional effectiveness to support the operations of the organization.

TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide site leadership to achieve maximization/optimization of capital assets and site utilization as well as lead safety initiatives in technical areas
  • Establish short term and long-range capital investment plans for facility and be accountable for the planning, execution, and budget of all projects
  • Accountability for management of external technical relationships with contractors and equipment vendors
  • Process engineering and equipment layout, integration, and specification services for projects that include a comparative analysis and executive summary for senior management
  • Develop strong project scope, budget, justification, and execution for approval by internal and external leaders
  • Proper selection, training, development, and motivation of leaders to maximize current and future performance
  • Contribute as an integral part of a senior plant leadership team to drive the plant strategy and culture
  • Provide technical leadership and site compliance with NFPA, NEC, EPA, OSHA, FDA, etc. requirements in conjunction with designated functional experts
  • Develop and maintain site project master plan with forward thinking approach to meet local team’s needs and future business needs
  • Monitor production metrics and analyze data to identify areas of improvement
  • Develop and support strategies that continuous improvement (CI) methodologies into the master plan
  • Provide site leadership for technical solutions to operational problems including systems optimization, removing bottlenecks, and troubleshooting
  • Accountable for the strategy, design and implementation of control systems and manufacturing information systems
  • Provide strategy and support for maintenance programs, development of tools and resources, personnel selection, training, and development
  • Vendor equipment investigation, selection, price negotiation, coordination, and procurement efforts related to projects
  • Analyze and plan for installation, project start-up, and commissioning equipment
  • Monitor the progress of construction projects to ensure that they are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Knowledge of how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems
  • Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner

  • Supervisory Duties 
  • Lead, manage, and supervise employees, delegate training for all processes within the plant setting
  • Provide mentorship and training to functional team members
  • Accountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coaching.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering with food focus)
  • 7-10 years of engineering leadership experience required (FMCG experience preferred)
  • Technical experience in project management, systems or process engineering, facilities management, or technical discipline engineering in a manufacturing environment with maintenance experience
  • Strong track record of engineering aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles, and problem solving
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience leading others in projects or programs, and the ability to successfully interact with individuals representing other areas or interests and the expertise to manage team leaders and mechanics

  • Other qualifications:
  • Willing and capable to travel domestically and internationally to support business needs
  • Understanding and experience interacting with multiple business functions
  • Ability to identify potential business solutions involving a broad scope of thinking across businesses and functions to develop new innovations
  • Working knowledge of maintenance management, PLC, Auto-CAD, CMMS’s, and root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and an aptitude for detail and strong organizational abilities a must
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas.

  • Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, must be able to lift minimal 50 lbs. consistently, reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.
  • Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks.
  • Position located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.
  • This position will be required to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses.
  • Work flexible shifts as required.
  • Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.
