Internship Term: Summer 2023
Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between Fall 2023 through Fall 2025.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop and execute test methods to evaluate various lithium-ion battery cell chemistries. Coordinate resource for internal and external testing.
- Drive the decision for cell selection based on the test results.
- Use different electrochemical techniques to identify cell degradation mechanism.
- Use cell testing data to support control/estimation algorithms used in battery management system.
- Work with pack design engineers to define pathways to improve cell/pack design with enhanced performance and lifetime; develop intellectual property for Rivian’s battery cell technology.
- Review academic literature of lithium-ion cells and beyond to advance Rivian’ battery cell technology.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a college or university and working towards a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or related field required.
- Demonstrated experience in characterizing lithium-ion cell.
- Strong understanding about electrochemistry properties of lithium-ion batteries.
- Familiar with dV/dQ and electrochemical techniques such as EIS, GITT, CV, PIT, 3E
- Excellent knowledge of development trend of lithium-ion battery.
- Desire to work in fast-paced environment and passionate about research/work in lithium-ion batteries, especially in EV.
