ABOUT THE POSITION:
Fluence’s enclosure team is seeking an engineering manager who can play a pivotal role in creating value for our customers through designing new generation BESS enclosures system. The manager will work closely with thermal and mechanical team to manage the design of high-value electromechanical enclosure products and will apply technical / leadership skills to ensure the timely and efficient execution of end-to-end development.
This role requires deep technical expertise in mechanical and thermal design of BESS enclosures, strong people management skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with global teams to ensure the successful completion of new BESS enclosures on time and within budget.
The enclosure engineering manager should have a strong sense of urgency, be self-driven, and have a deep passion for creativity and innovation. They must be able to lead, mentor, and motivate a skilled mechanical and thermal team. This individual should demonstrate unwavering dedication and exhibit an all-in attitude as the Manager of Thermal Design, be capable of managing pressure, and adeptly guide both the team and product design amidst Fluence’s dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team of mechanical, thermal designers to meet and exceed business objectives.
  • Drive team performance to ensure that deliverables are met on time and Ensure adherence to budget 
  • Ensure correct assignment of tasks with engineering team, define relevant performance standards and conduct regular performance evaluation for team member as per business guideline.
  • Create work and resource plan and cost estimate for engineering work.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure team goals are aligned with Business KPI needs.
  • Retain and hire best talents as per business need.
  • Conceptualize new designs and enable transition to product design.
  • Ensure engineering team to comply with all Fluence compliance needs. 
  • Foster cross-business area/segment collaboration
  • Work in a highly dynamic and changing environment and adapt to shifting customer priorities.
  • Mentor and coach team members in technical and personal skill development
  • Actively demonstrate expertise in one or more skill sets from below domains.
  • Advanced thermal & fluid systems modeling and simulation- air conditioning and ventilation designs.
  • Finite element modeling for structral anlaysis and mechanical calculations to seismic, transportation, handling & lifting requirements and other environmental load conditions (i.e. wind load, snow load, etc.) 
  • Mechanical system design-  Sheet metal component, Plastics mould component, Material selection, DFMEA, DFA, DFM etc.

  • What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Mechanical engineering or Master’s in thermal enginee with 10+ years of work experience
  • 5+ years of Experience in handling medium size Team of 8-12 members 
  • Highly skilled and detail-oriented product designer involved in the end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept to production.
  • Experience in component selection such as Chiller, HVAC, fans, space heaters, dehumidifiers, coolant piping and accessories etc. in collaboration with procurement, quality and supplier partners from across the globe. 
  • Hands-on experience with analytical modelling, numerical simulations, and testing of battery energy storage thermal management
  • Possess an entrepreneurial drive for getting things done and a “whatever it takes” attitude. 
  • Comfortable working in a highly dynamic and changing environment and adapt to shifting customer priorities.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, solve problems, and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong mentoring and Coaching skill set
  • Experience in Windchill/SAP PLM, BOM and product design control is required.
