About the company:

Neara is a software technology company that provides a physics-enabled digital twin platform specifically designed for electric utility infrastructure. The platform enables utilities to create a behaviourally identical digital model of their entire network, integrating assets, surrounding terrain, weather conditions, and vegetation into a single physics-accurate environment. This allows network operators to simulate real-world scenarios including severe weather events, wildfires, floods, and equipment failures to understand risk, predict outcomes, and prioritize interventions before incidents occur. Neara's mission centers on improving the resilience, safety, and efficiency of energy infrastructure, which directly supports the clean energy transition by helping utilities manage aging grids, reduce outages, and enable the integration of renewable energy sources. The platform addresses critical climate-related challenges such as wildfire mitigation, storm response, and flood management, making it a key tool for utilities facing increasing climate-driven grid risks. By replacing fragmented point solutions with a unified model, Neara helps reduce the environmental and financial costs associated with infrastructure failures and inefficient maintenance. What distinguishes Neara is its use of physics-based simulation rather than statistical approximation, enabling users to move from broad risk awareness to precise failure prediction and actionable planning. The platform supports a wide range of use cases including vegetation analysis, clearance risk assessment, conductor clashing detection, asset lifecycle management, distribution and transmission network design, and regulatory reporting. Neara operates across multiple geographies including the United States, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand, serving major electric utilities seeking to modernize their network management capabilities.

Imagine having the power to stress-test an entire power grid against a hurricane or thunderstorm before the clouds even gather. That is the reality we are creating at Neara.

We use advanced machine learning to create engineering-grade, physics enabled digital twins of electricity grids across four continents, this helps asset owners understand their biggest challenges and bring the most viable solutions to life across millions of kilometres of infrastructure.

By simulating extreme weather and structural stress at a network-wide scale, we empower the world’s largest utilities to pinpoint risks, optimise investments and build a more resilient global energy future.

Our team is a collection of brilliant minds who are fanatical about making a tangible difference in the real world, utilising AI and machine learning to accelerate everything from data classification to complex scenario analysis. We have built a special culture where innovation thrives because everyone owns the mission and we need smart, creative people to help us scale this impact to every corner of the globe.

As an Implementation Engineer (Transmission Line & Structural Design), you'll join a growing team in India supporting our delivery and pre-sales functions, working closely with our product, sales, and development teams in Australia and the US.

This is a hybrid role on our deployment and customer success track: customer-facing, but technically deep.

Your core strength is overhead transmission line design, and you are comfortable with the structural side of it, including towers, poles, and the loads they carry. You'll bring that background to Neara, where your day-to-day involves helping clients rapidly build and compare transmission line designs on our platform. That means ingesting their data and constraints, spotting structures, evaluating multiple route/design options, and watching cost, loads, and clearance metrics update in real time.

Your design experience is what lets you do this credibly: speaking the client's language, understanding how they design lines today with legacy tools like PLS-CADD, and building their confidence in Neara's outputs. When transmission demand is lighter, you'll contribute to our core India delivery, covering model build, QA, and other US client projects (including GIS and LiDAR work).

Note: You won't be hired to deliver PLS-CADD projects as a service. That experience is highly valued so you can understand how clients work today, compare their designs with Neara critically, and speak their language. The day-to-day focus is strictly on Neara.

Some of the Things You Will Contribute To (Not All at Once)

  • Design Optimization: Building and iterating transmission line designs in Neara for clients by ingesting their layers and constraints, spotting structures, and rapidly evaluating/comparing route and design options against live cost, loads, and clearance metrics.

  • Data Integration: Translating customers' transmission designs (tower libraries, structure lists, plan-and-profile sheets, foundation drawings) into Neara projects.

  • Structural Mapping: Mapping structural concepts (wind span, weight span, line angles, load cases, clearances, tension vs. suspension structures, foundations) into how Neara represents and calculates them.

  • Workflow Migration: Helping customers compare Neara's outputs with their current PLS-CADD / PLS-TOWER workflows, and proposing practical migration paths.

  • Client Engagement: Joining pre-sales demos and deployment sessions with Indian clients, fielding structural and tower-design questions, and building trust in Neara's outputs.

  • Technical Ownership: Owning "what structures make sense" when colleagues configure routes and constraints, alongside doing a fair share of the GIS/spatial work yourself.

  • Value & Efficiency: Independently conducting basic ROI calculations: measuring the time and cost of customers' existing workflows and understanding/measuring what efficiencies Neara solutions generate.

  • Core Delivery Support: Contributing to core India delivery (model build, QA, GIS / LiDAR work) when transmission demand is lighter, and partnering with engineering and product to improve project speed.

You Will Need to Have

  • Education: A degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, with clear exposure to overhead transmission line design.

  • Experience: Around 3 to 5 years working on overhead transmission line (OHTL / OHL) projects, focused on transmission line routing, structural load analysis, and tower spotting optimization.

  • Domain Knowledge: A solid grasp of tower behavior, covering load cases (wind, weight, temperature, and ice in snow regions), how line angles drive tension vs. suspension structures, clearances, and basic foundation concepts.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tower/foundation details, specifications, and geotechnical inputs, including working knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Communication: Fluent verbal and written English communication skills and real comfort with customers, allowing you to ask good questions and explain trade-offs simply to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work a hybrid role across time zones (India, US, Australia), with some client-site travel for workshops, demos, and deployment.

Some Attributes We Highly Regard (Bonus Points)

  • Direct experience in transmission line routing and tower design, ideally with Indian utilities/EPCs, or in consulting where you've defended your designs to clients, regulators, or review boards.

  • Hands-on, real-project experience with PLS-CADD (ideally PLS-TOWER / PLS-POLE): structure modeling, tower spotting, route optimization, load and clearance checks.

  • Basic GIS familiarity (QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth, KMZ / KML).

  • Scripting or automation around PLS-CADD, CAD, or data workflows (Python or similar), alongside the ability to use AI tools to execute tasks faster.

What We Are Offering You

  • Accelerated Growth: The opportunity to fast-track your career within an innovative, well-funded, rapidly scaling international software company working on a product at the center of the global energy transition.

  • Collaborative Culture: Open-minded, cooperative, and proactive colleagues where your opinions will be heard and you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

  • Strong Leadership: A dynamic work environment with an exceptional leadership team, clear vision and mission, and a high-performance culture.

  • Work Flexibility: The opportunity to work in a hybrid / remote-friendly model.

  • Competitive Compensation: A highly competitive salary package.
