Role Summary:

In this position, you will be on the front lead the cross functional product development organization delivery of a program. With a small team, you will pull together the product development teams to delivery high quality products on time and budget. You will fly at multiple at altitudes, digging in where teams need help, while always having a zoomed-out view towards the end goal.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Critical Path – ensuring that there are timelines to manage the critical path and the teams are executing to the Tier 2 and Tier 3 timelines. Driving the drumbeat of product development based on the aligned timeline and actively de risking the critical path.
  • Risk Management – working the technical teams to identify program risks, mitigation plans, and escalation before risks are realized. This is constantly evolving throughout the entire program.
  • Issue Management – ensuring issues are identified and resolved effectively throughout the program and issues are burned down before moving to more complex phases of the program
  • Scope Management – work with the functional teams to determine what’s needed to deliver the program objectives requested by the Vehicle line, work with cross functional team to understand and align dependencies and iterate to come to the best solution.
  • Change Management – align on change management content and that the changes are necessary (align with technical leadership, chief engineer, and vehicle line), and then ensure high quality change execution when change is agreed
  • Targets Management – iterate with technical teams and vehicle lines on Budget targets, BOM cost, mass, feature targets, and then ensure the teams are achieving targets, help resolve issues, escalate roadblocks, and spot icebergs that would prevent targets from being achieved.
  • Technical Integration at all levels – act as the glue between the teams to ensure there is cross collaboration, tradeoffs being made across the teams, and issues escalated.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about electric vehicles and the execution of cutting-edge technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Masters’ Degree (Preferred)
  • 10+ years’ experience on in product development
  • Design Release Experience preferred
  • Experience with autonomous vehicle compute systems, sensors, and vehicle integration is preferred
  • A track record of successfully delivering large scale, complex, cross-functional and capital-intensive projects. Experience is preferred within automotive domain or to have demonstrated outstanding skills from an adjacent and relevant industry
  • Existing pedigree and success in customer/partner environment
  • An ability to challenge existing assumptions, concepts, and beliefs to develop new methods.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence, inspire and build a culture that comes together to over deliver
  • Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing techniques and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical systems from both a hardware and software perspective
  • Able to work efficiently and demonstrate composure under high amount of work/stress.
  • High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • Able to travel: 10 -20%

Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $230,000 -$264,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
