The SPAN Panel replaces the standard residential electrical panel to become the center for connected power in the home, providing revolutionary insights and home energy controls through the SPAN mobile app. SPAN recently launched SPAN Drive, an EV charger with the fastest available home charging and unique control capabilities. 

The Role

SPAN has successfully launched the SPAN Panel as a consumer product across the country, and is working with multiple utilities on pilot and demonstration projects. We’re looking to build on this initial success with a Director of Utility Business Development who will extend our reach by developing new programs with utilities across the country. This role will own the expansion of our Utilities channel, enabling electrification and whole-home load flexibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Source, develop, close, and implement partnerships and product deployments with utility partners

  • Build programs with utilities to offer incentives and rebates for smart panel adoption

  • Respond to and win utility RFPs for smart panels and EV chargers

  • Build partnerships with other leading companies in the utility industry to open up new channels and utility customer relationships

  • Collaborate closely with product team to inform product roadmap for utilities

  • Work closely with other members of the Business Development team to craft utility strategy and cross-selling opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Track record of developing and closing sales and rebates with electric utilities

  • 10+ years sales experience, including 3-5 years successfully selling to utilities

  • Existing relationships with utility executives, especially those in customer programs and distribution engineering teams

  • Understanding of utility sales cycle, regulatory policy, and partner ecosystem

  • Strong sales acumen and experience, with a solid track record of results as a hunter sourcing and closing new accounts

  • Outstanding communications skills, with demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships as well as write quickly and concisely

  • Highly motivated, self-directed, tenacious, and excited to learn about this quickly evolving industry

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience
