The Role 

 

SPAN is growing! As we grow, we are looking for strategic minds who can help shape and execute a multi-channel, high-performing go-to-market strategy. The Director Sales Strategy & Operations professional will play a crucial role in supporting this hyper-growth phase of SPAN. Success in this role means assisting c-suite leadership, sales channel leadership and the frontline sales organization in developing and executing our sales growth strategy. Sample projects range from the strategic to the very operational including evaluating both market opportunities, supporting the creation of the product growth strategy, business planning, market segmentation, sales pipeline analysis and regular review of key performance metrics. The role is cross-functional by definition and will provide exposure to senior executives and investors. The successful candidate will have relentless curiosity, a tireless work ethic and a commitment to word-class execution.

What You'll Do:

Reporting to the CRO, you will provide leadership and support in executing SPAN’s go-to-market strategy and delivering on SPAN’s growth goals. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Go-to-Market Strategy - Orchestrate the design and implementation of all aspects of the Go-To-Market plan. Support regional sales team driving sales growth strategies and ensuring that these strategies are adopted in all levels of the organization. 
  • Forecasting & Planning - Oversee sales forecasting, funnel management, planning, and budgeting processes used within the sales organization in partnership with finance to ensure achievement of revenue and key operating metrics. Proactively monitor and maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the sales organization's planning efforts. 
  • Reporting & Analytics - Establish full funnel metrics and dashboards to generate data driven insights. Support  the implementation and development of data warehouse and front-end analytics platforms necessary to scale insights across functional organizations.
  • Sales Incentive Design - Critically evaluate Sales incentive plans and iterate and improve as the business evolves, considering all factors like alignment with business needs, cost efficiency and return on investment. Own centralized target and quota setting for various GTM teams. 
  • Cross-functional Program Management - Collaborate with internal customers to ensure the appropriate objectives and priorities are enabled within the sales organization. 
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Insights - Compile, analyze and distribute competitive information to sales team and senior leadership
  • Team Leadership & Growth - Recruit and manage an impactful team of analysts and managers, driving consistency, scalability and best practice sharing wherever possible
  • Execution Excellence - Drive the monthly and quarterly operating cadence to achieve key operational breakthroughs. Identify key insights to accelerate growth and efficiency

Who you are:

  • You demonstrate the ability to scale and equip the business in a strategic manner, communicate big picture opportunities and make data-driven decisions

  • You work well under pressure, with a high degree of adaptability and flexibility in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years proven experience in a senior sales strategy + operations role with experience in management consulting, investment banking, or other fields
  • 5 years of sales operations experience, particularly focused on sales performance, forecasting and quota planning
  • Excellent analytical skills and intuition for business. Passionate about framing business questions with data, translating business needs into strategies, and carrying out tactics and process improvements.
  • Experience problem solving and passion to analyze, set priorities, and solve sophisticated problems effectively and consistently
  • Experience with sales compensation models, sales forecasting using in house models and external vendors
  • Experience developing and mentoring successful teams
  • Effective, clear, and concise interpersonal skills, verbal and written. Experience relationship building with executives and cross-functional teams alike
  • Experience driving cross-functional projects end-to-end
  • Ability to arrange priorities across organizations at all levels
  • Experience working with large sets of unstructured and synthesizing into business insights (e.g. using SQL, Excel, Google Suite)
  • Experience with Salesforce.com
