About the position:
Location: Arlington, VA or Houston, TX

The Director of Operations and Quality is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the operational ecosystem of contract manufacturing and suppliers to ensure seamless production and delivery of energy storage products. This position will develop and implement a robust manufacturing strategy to achieve the organization’s ambitious regional growth objectives, with a particular emphasis on enhancing domestic content and operational excellence across the supply chain.
The Director will play a critical role in aligning operations with corporate goals, partnering with cross-functional teams, and driving the successful introduction of new products into the market.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing strategy to meet the region’s growth targets, with a focus on domestic content and sustainability.
Establish and maintain an ecosystem of contract manufacturers and suppliers that aligns with quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Operational Excellence:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain to optimize performance, efficiency, and scalability.
Implement and uphold best practices for operational and quality management systems.
Supply Chain Management:
Build and manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with performance metrics and fostering collaboration.
Develop supplier capacity and capabilities to meet evolving business demands.
Product Introduction:
Collaborate with product development, engineering, and other teams to ensure smooth and timely introduction of new products.
Lead the operational readiness of manufacturing and supply chain processes for new product launches.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of professionals across operations and quality functions, fostering a high-performance culture.
Promote accountability, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration within the organization.
Risk and Compliance Management:
Identify and mitigate risks within the operations and supply chain ecosystem.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for operations and quality.
Present regular updates to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and strategic initiatives.

What an ideal candidate brings to Fluence?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial, Operations, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management, preferably within the energy, manufacturing, or high-tech industries.
  • Proven track record of managing contract manufacturing and supplier ecosystems
