About the Role
The Director, Carbon Programs plays a crucial role in overseeing and leading various aspects of carbon projects, particularly within the context of mixed and cropping systems in Australia. Responsibilities will include:
- Lead execution of complex carbon projects by planning, organizing, and overseeing the implementation of projects aimed at building stable soil carbon, with a focus on achieving environmental and financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Regulations by staying informed about relevant environmental and carbon-related regulations, making sure that projects align with and adhere to Australian standards.
- Achieve carbon project milestones by being accountable for meeting project milestones within the allocated budget and timelines, employing efficient project management and cost control.
- Provide leadership to interdisciplinary yeams, offering guidance and direction to experts from various fields such as agronomy, environmental science, and project management, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Manage the Project Onboarding team to effectively communicate project objectives and plans, ensuring a successful project start.
- Oversee the Customer Project Support team to address customer inquiries, concerns, and provide guidance on the project's progress, delivering essential customer support.
- Take charge of the Field Operations team responsible for conducting field activities, including carbon-building processes and agronomic support, which are crucial for the success of soil carbon projects.
In this role, you will need strong leadership, project management, and communication skills. You will also need a deep understanding of carbon sequestration techniques, agronomy, and Australian environmental regulations. Success in this position is critical for achieving the environmental and financial objectives of SecondCrop's soil carbon projects.
Location: This role can be located anywhere in New South Wales but with a strong preference for proximity to Orange, NSW to be close to Loam's Australia-based team.
Requirements
- Solid background in agricultural environments, ideally extensive industry experience in sustainable agriculture and soil health management.
- An understanding of carbon sequestration techniques, especially within agricultural systems.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead and inspire interdisciplinary teams, particularly in an agricultural context.
- Proficient project management expertise to efficiently plan, organize, and execute complex agricultural projects.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian environmental regulations, with a focus on their application in the agricultural industry.
- Effective communication skills for conveying project objectives, plans, and addressing inquiries within an agricultural setting.
- Experience in team management, including oversight of the project onboarding and field operations teams within the agricultural sector.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to tackle project challenges and implement innovative solutions in agriculture.
- Financial acumen for budget allocation and financial performance assessment, particularly in agricultural projects.
