ICON is looking for a Director of AI R&D on the BuildOS team. BuildOS is ICON’s software platform for residential construction. You will build and lead a team that will develop advanced neural networks that will drive the digital architecture and build planning for residential structures. You will bring AI and ML techniques to bear on the business problems associated with construction. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead a team that performs AI research and product development in a cutting-edge open-ended problem domain.
Serve as a company-wide expert in advanced AI technologies and their applicability to business problems in construction.
Recruit and build a world class AI research and product development team.
Translate business problems into deployed production solutions in the AI space.
Pursue patent applications for novel technologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years delivering commercially successful products based on neural networks.

10+ years leading software teams.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or equivalent technical degree and industry experience.
Experience building and scaling an AI/data science team.
Proven track record of translating business problems into solutions based on neural networks in a leadership role.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Advanced degree in mathematics, data science, or AI.
Experience developing a commercially successful generative neural network (e.g. StyleGAN, GPT3, etc)
