Role Description
The Director of Manufacturing Operations will build out the first Manufacturing Operations Department at Form. This team will start by including Production, Production Maintenance, Warehousing, Production Control/Scheduling, New Product Introduction, and Sustaining Engineering. You will be building a team from scratch and be joining in the early stages of a small but rapidly growing team. In this role you will be responsible for managing the first factory at Form Energy, ultimately leading a team of up to 750  individuals who will be responsible for day in and day out delivery of Form’s novel Long Duration Energy Storage Battery, meeting quality specs, to customers across the US.

This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Eighty Four, PA location (Greater Pittsburgh Area).

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and manage the manufacturing operations department of Form Energy.
  • You will own the safety, health and well-being of the manufacturing team by ensuring responsible practices are used to protect them and their work environment.  Partnering with EHS leadership to ensure best practices are implemented throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Build a production plan & team schedule that meets all Form production targets and meet customer commitments.
  • Develop an NPI team and process to take product through the technical transfer process from R&D to full rate production.
  • Achieve product quality specs in production and providing feedback to supply chain and engineering teams for quality improvement.
  • Develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and programs to improve the safety and productivity of the production line(s) achieving world class OEE.
  • Develop production maintenance teams and programs to ensure the highest standards for OEE, with specific focus on equipment availability. 
  • Select and develop a computerized maintenance management system for development of maintenance programs and management of factory equipment KPI’s.
  • Develop and report against key manufacturing operations KPI’s at the floor level to the executive level on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Develop or improve upon a factory visual management system that delivers real time performance information from shop floor through to corporate visibility
  • Responsible for developing and leading operational strategic initiatives to hit Form’s ambitious COGs targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement through close collaboration with Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Software Engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Form’s Finance department to build and manage a budget and manage the performance and adherence to the budget
  • Leverage the Form culture to create an inclusive working environment where team members are engaged, feel valued, and are motivated to be strong contributors.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Seasoned operations leader with 10+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, and manufacturing
  • Experience in technology manufacturing, automating and scaling novel chemical or metallurgical processes ideally involving battery manufacturing, energy storage, or a similar field
  • Empathic leader that can manage associates of all skill levels 
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma practitioner is highly desired
  • Experience leading a continuous improvement program through established practices like Kaizen, Yokoten, eliminating waste (Muda), Value Stream mapping or other manufacturing practices
