Your role and your team:

You will report directly to the CESE (Customer Electronics System Engineering) Lead. The CESE Team is responsible for designing and developing the electronic components (control units)  of our propulsion unit across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer for the control units, you will be part of an interdisciplinary IPT (Integrated Project Team) responsible for all mechanical/thermal aspects of the control units. This includes, but not limited to housing design,  electronic packaging, where internal housing integration and allocation of electronic boards and wiring will be a core aspect.

From mechanical parts or electrical integration design to mechanical systems development you will play a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.

Your Day to Day:

  • Develop and design aerospace control unit parts and assemblies throughout their lifecycle
  • Electronic Packaging
  • Design for Assembly
  • Create complex 3D parts and assemblies in CAD (Siemens NX)
  • Design approval of 2D technical drawings appropriate for production and certification
  • Good working knowledge of GD&T
  • Consult with and support engineers of other disciplines, for example Thermals, Stress, etc.
  • Consult with Suppliers and support DfM sessions
  • Create supporting documentation for certification
  • Prepare and present material in design reviews
  • Learn new things – and share them with your team members
  • Work on any ad hoc related projects or tasks

Your Profile:

  • University degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (MSc/M.Eng preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is required
  • Proven record of successfully progressing designs through a gated process
  • Experience in managing and agreeing interfaces
  • Experience in the validation and verification of designs is beneficial
  • Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems is required
  • Experience in Teamcenter and NX is beneficial
  • Experience in working with the integration of electronic components and their thermal behavior is required
  • Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required
  • Strong motivation to help build structures and processes is required
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously if required
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial

Duration: Permanent role

Working hours: 40 hours/week

Working onsite in Munich office is required.
