We are developing our online commodity marketplace which allows farmers to find more sellers and buyers and to identify the best possible deals out there. We are looking forward to giving you access to the Agreena platform, from which we will enable farmers to easily access and identify the best prices on agricultural commodities delivered by both local and international market players. Both farmers and trading houses will be able to post offers in this open cross-border online market place. We hope you will join us on this journey towards a more open market.
About Agreena
Agreena is an exciting, dynamic, and purpose-oriented organisation united in a mission to mobilise farmers and corporations to unlock the value of nature and help restore the planet. While we’re rooted in agriculture, finance, and technology, our team of experts range from soil carbon scientists and software developers to market strategists and regulatory affairs experts. Over 200 employees across more than 40 nationalities are gathered under the common Agreena flag – either working from our headquarters in Copenhagen, offices in London, or remotely across Europe.
Agreena provides solutions that drive both environmental and financial sustainability. Our company offers a supportive and positive work environment with opportunities for learning, leading, and growth no matter where you are in your professional journey. We believe in giving our employees a lot of responsibility, and we encourage new thinking, innovation, and fun.
Agreena is a farmer-centric FinTech on a mission to scale regenerative agriculture. Agriculture is foundational global infrastructure, but long-term conventional practices are eroding our soils. Regenerative agriculture has the potential to not only restore degraded land, but also reverse negative climate impact through soil sequestration.
However, farmers are facing transition risks and financial barriers, when looking to adopt new practices. Additional funding is needed to truly scale adoption of regenerative agriculture. And this is where Agreena comes in. We bridge the financial gap, by mobilising farmers and corporations, unlocking the value of nature and restoring the planet. With a presence in 17 countries in Europe, and 2 million hectares under management, we operate the largest soil carbon program in Europe.
With EUR 50M in series B funding, we are looking to expand outside Europe. As one of the dominant agricultural markets in the world, with a large share of arable land, the US and especially the corn belt region is of natural interest. We are therefore looking for a strong Market Lead, based in the corn belt.
About the role
The demand and interest for our service is increasing rapidly, which is why we are looking for an entrepreneurial candidate within the industry that can lead the process of launching Agreena in the US corn belt region. The role includes refining our value proposition and go-to-market strategy in the US and developing as well as executing on the roll-out plan through engagement with the right industry and regulatory stakeholders across regions.
As a person, you are energetic and take initiative to get things done. You are a structured “self-starter”, and you can manage priorities and maintain timelines for multiple activities. You work well independently and are comfortable with remote work and travel - especially across the US
The ideal candidate will have the knowhow of the local regions, with a deep structural understanding and network within the political landscape, industry associations, key players within the agricultural industry and ideally, agricultural holdings
Please note you must be authorised to work in the US for this position and that we will hire on a consultant basis - with the potential for the role to develop into a GM role, if market entry is successful
Your responsibilities
As the market lead you will work closely with the headquarters to pressure test and execute on our go-to-market strategy. You will be responsible for engaging with and leading discussions and negotiations with potential partners - e.g. for lead generation, distribution, product development or sale of carbon certificates or verified outcomes. You will be responsible for identifying market gaps and identifying opportunities for Agreena to solve the needs of customers, building on existing capabilities and assets - and the opportunities and funding available by the US government. As you are responsible for preparing the market for full launch, you will need to be well-versed in all business matters, the regulatory landscape of the US and corn belt regions and the local ecosystem. You will need to have the ability to run very practical tasks, while also leading complex strategic initiatives and partnership dialogues.
You will be the face and the voice of Agreena in the US, as well as having the responsibility for both commercial and political communication towards the market. It’s key that you are interested in refining and executing the local go to market strategy together with the support from headquarters
One of your first tasks will be to map out all the important industry players across the corn belt that have received funding under the Inflation Reduction Act, and are key to a successful market entry. This is both in terms of commercial & product development partnerships, as well as the political and regulatory stakeholders that are key to the development of the market.
