WHO YOU ARE

Sila Nanotechnologies is seeking a versatile Construction Management Technical Lead for our Capital Projects team. This person will play a key role in the design and construction of new battery material manufacturing facilities in Moses Lake, WA. You will support the design and construction of our next-gen battery material factory in Moses Lake, WA. Your multi-year project will take on a variety of responsibilities to support the planning and building of Sila’s next-generation anode material factory. This is not your typical Construction Management Technical Lead position; in our small team, you’ll be asked to take on broad project management and technical responsibilities to keep our project on track in the field. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external engineering and construction partners to effectively coordinate, execute, and support commissioning of the project. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  • Supervise all field engineering activities
  • Resolves technical problems encountered during construction. Works with Sila Project engineers to address complex issues.
  • Manage RFIs and non-conformance reports (NCRs) and submittal processes across multiple contractors.  Provide initial recommendations to Sila project engineers regarding technical solution, and associated cost & schedule.  Track action to completion in the field.
  • Support project management with: construction schedule planning and execution; risk management; performance metrics; change orders; record-keeping; and site safety management 
  • Support earned value metrics tracking and provide reports to Sila Project Controls.
  • Evaluate construction contractors weekly schedule performance submittals and provide meaningful feedback to address delays and deficiencies.
  • Facilitates project status reports. Gathers reports from contractors and consolidates into a Sila project report.
  • Support the development of the start-up and commissioning schedule and provide expertise during site activities.
  • Support compliance with permitting requirements for the site.
  • Support Pre Start-up Safety Reviews.
  • Coordinate and track equipment installation and commissioning
  • Oversee inspection and test plans. 
  • Assist in the implementation and management of quality assurance programs.
  • Supervises assembly of all turn over documentation and packages.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in project engineering or related project work
  • Minimum of 10 years, with 15+ years preferred, experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with operations in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in schedule management, cost control, risk management, and project execution.
  • Experience managing contractors with complex scope
  • Proven communication skills, across external and internal teams
  • Familiarity with industrial codes and standards
  • Ability to review and understand documentation, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to create concise reports
  • Ability to solve complex problems

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Move long distances and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb ladders and stand on your feet for 8+ hours per day

The starting base pay for this role is between $82.69/hr and $104.80/hr at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, and equity.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for overtime.
