  • Lead the overall development and ongoing changes to the requirements through to final aircraft configuration definition.
  • Undertake work which requires the application of fundamental principles of composites design, structural analysis, mechanical systems, other systems integration and systems thinking in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts.
  • Receive assignments from the Chief Engineer and Programme Managers in the form of objectives and establishing own milestones and working under broad direction with minimal supervision to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and evaluate checkpoint and design milestone to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.

The successful Chief Design Engineer will have the following Experiences & Qualifications:

We seek an ambitious individual with a proven track record in the aerospace industry as an exceptionally organised self-starter who has led the composites design, structural and mechanical systems integration development of new aircraft programmes from initial concept through certification and successful operation in-service. You will have the technical background necessary to successfully lead the cross-functional team to deliver the most competitive aircraft. Additionally, you will have a strong organisational leadership pedigree with a proven track record of driving a highly talented and performing airframe design and mechanical systems cross functional team.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a complex aircraft development environment managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of regulatory certification specifications such as SC-VTOL, CS/FAR-23, 25, 27 or 29.
  • Significant experience in:
    • Requirement Management
    • Management of technical risk
    • V&V
    • Scheduling and resource planning

  • A demonstrable track record of managing high performing teams.
  • A core strength in leading and motivating highly innovative and technical teams, able to create differentiated value.
  • The leadership capability to shape and deliver the company strategy as part of the engineering leadership team, serving as a true partner to colleagues across the business.
